We’re not even wheels up yet and already hit a minor snafu. Even though we are spending the night in Miami, because its an international flight and the layover is less 5 minutes less than 12 hours, we won’t be able to claim our luggage there, which means re-shuffling for a carry-on. At least Judy found out about it before we got to the airport. If this is the worst problem we have, it will be a pretty good trip.
Four of us are flying from Midland and the rest from Dallas at 5:30 in the morning, which means a 3:30 airport arrival time…hell, no. The Midland contingent will meet up with the rest of the group in Miami tomorrow morning. We will be perky. They will be bleary-eyed.
I’ve probably said this before, but if you ever get the chance to fly first class, do that. Our nuts were brought in a crystal dish…warmed. We had a full dinner and probably saved enough on the free booze alone to make up the extra cost.
We meet up with the rest of the group in the morning at the Miami airport. I’m sure I’ll have stories to tell, although Joe has threatened to get an incriminating photo of me early on to use as leverage to keep my blogs in line. I am fearless. His plan is doomed.
